The next Northside Conservatives meeting is Friday, May 8th at 7:15 AM at Briarwood Golf Club (3405 NE Trilein Dr, Ankeny).

Our speakers are Zach Lahn who is a candidate for Governor, and Ankeny City Councilman Todd Shafer. Todd will discuss the Local Option Sales Tax (LOSS) that will be on the ballot at a special election this September.

Zach Lahn

Zach Lahn is not a politician but another Iowan like you. He is a father, farmer, and a businessman. He is a 6th generation Iowan, his own biggest donor, and does not answer to large corporations or special interest — only to God, his family, and the people of Iowa.

Todd Shafer

Todd Shafer is serving his second term on the Ankeny City Council. He was appointed Mayor Pro Tem on Feb. 17, 2025.

Todd is a business owner and works for MidAmerican Energy in supply chain management as a Contracts Manager. Todd served on the Ankeny School Board from 2009 – 2017, the later years as Vice President and President. He has also served as Vice President and President for the local chapter of ISM (Institute for Supplier Management). Todd has also taught various college courses and lectures. He has a bachelor’s degree from Upper Iowa University in Business Administration and a Master’s in Business from Mid-American Nazarene University.

Todd, his wife, and two children have lived in Ankeny since 2003. Todd grew up in Marion, Iowa.
